Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes what information ViralDNA ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our mobile app and related services (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
We collect the minimum we need to analyze the videos you give us and to run your account. No advertising networks. No tracking pixels. No resale of your data, ever.
Contents
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you start using ViralDNA we create an account for you. Until you sign in it is a device-bound "guest" account identified only by a random identifier. When you secure it — with Apple, Google, or an email and password — we additionally store:
- Your email address (for sign-in, account recovery and essential service emails).
- Your display name, if your sign-in provider shares one.
- A provider identifier from Apple or Google so we can recognise you on future sign-ins. We never receive your Apple or Google password. If you use email sign-in, your password is stored only as a salted hash.
Creator profile
To tailor the analysis, we store the answers you give in onboarding — for example the platforms you post on, your content niche, your goals and experience level. You can change these at any time.
Videos and links you submit
This is the heart of the Service. When you paste a link or upload a video or images, we store:
- The link you pasted (if any) and basic public metadata about the post (title, duration, thumbnail, platform).
- The video or image files themselves — downloaded from the link, or uploaded from your device.
- The evidence we extract from them: transcript, detected scenes and their timings, extracted frames, on-screen text read from those frames, visual assets, and the audio/pacing metrics we compute.
- The generated report: scores, the estimated retention curve, insights, and any ideas generated from the analysis.
Subscription & payment
Payments are handled by the Apple App Store. We do not see or store your card or payment details. From our subscription-management provider we receive your subscription status (trial / active / expired), the plan you chose and its renewal date, so we know what to unlock.
Device & technical information
- App version, OS version and device model, for diagnostics.
- IP address, briefly, when API requests are made — for security, rate-limiting and abuse prevention.
- Request identifiers and error logs so we can debug failures in the analysis pipeline.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
2. How we use it
We use the information above to:
- Fetch, process and analyze the videos, images and links you submit, and show you the resulting reports.
- Keep your library of analyses available to you across reinstalls and devices once you've signed in.
- Tailor insights and ideas to your creator profile.
- Enforce plan limits, trials and subscriptions.
- Improve the accuracy and reliability of the analysis pipeline and fix bugs.
- Prevent abuse, fraud and security incidents.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your videos or reports to train advertising or recommendation systems outside of ViralDNA.
3. Videos, links and AI processing
Analyzing a video means sending pieces of it to specialised third-party AI providers, acting on our behalf:
- The audio track is sent to a speech-to-text provider to produce the transcript.
- Selected frames are sent to a vision model to read on-screen text and classify visual assets.
- The transcript, scene timings, on-screen text and computed metrics — not the raw video — are sent to a large-language-model provider to write the report and generate ideas.
Where the provider offers it, we use terms under which your content is not used to train their models. All AI output is checked against a fixed schema before it reaches you; scores are computed from stored metrics rather than invented by the model.
Retention is an estimate. The retention curve and related statistics in a report are derived from signals inside the video. They are not, and are never presented as, your platform's actual analytics.
Please avoid uploading videos that contain sensitive personal information (documents, addresses, other people's private data) unless you are comfortable with it being processed as described above.
4. Content you don't own
You can analyze any public video by link, including videos made by other people. Downloaded files, extracted frames, transcripts and assets are stored so that your report can show its evidence and so you can refer back to it. They are provided for analysis and reference. Storing them in your library does not give you or us any rights in that content, and the app says so wherever assets are shown. If you are a rights holder and believe content should be removed from our systems, contact us (see §13) and we will act promptly.
5. Sharing & third-party services
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:
- AI providers — speech-to-text, vision and language models, as described in §3.
- Media fetching infrastructure — to download public videos from the links you paste.
- Sign-in providers — Apple and Google, if you choose to sign in with them.
- A subscription-management provider — to mirror your App Store subscription status.
- Cloud hosting, storage and database providers — to store your account, media and reports and to run the application.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. A current list of the specific sub-processors we use is available on request at support@viralcodeapp.com.
We may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of ViralDNA, our users or the public. In the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will notify you in advance if it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
6. Cookies (web only)
The ViralDNA mobile app does not use cookies. This marketing website (viralcodeapp.com) uses no advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
7. Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data, submitted media and reports while your account is active, so that your library keeps working. Original video files may be removed from storage after processing while the extracted evidence and report are kept.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (Profile → Delete account). This removes your account, profile, submitted media, extracted evidence and reports from our systems, with backups purged within 30 days. Records that the App Store keeps about your purchases are governed by Apple's policies. Aggregate, de-identified metrics (for example "average analysis time") may be retained to improve the Service.
Guest accounts that have never been secured and have not been used for an extended period may be deleted automatically.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Most of this you can do yourself in the app; for anything else, email support@viralcodeapp.com. We will respond within 30 days (or sooner where the law requires).
9. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit via HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords are stored as salted hashes, never in plain text; sign-in tokens live in your device's secure keychain and are short-lived and rotated.
- Media and reports are scoped to your account; access to production data is restricted and logged.
- Requests are rate-limited and validated to prevent abuse.
No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a vulnerability or a breach affecting your account, please email support@viralcodeapp.com immediately.
10. International transfers
ViralDNA operates globally and may transfer, store and process your information outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms to keep your data protected at an equivalent level.
11. Children's privacy
ViralDNA is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher local minimum age of digital consent). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
13. Contact
Questions, requests or concerns about this Privacy Policy — including privacy, data-access, rights-holder and security matters — can be sent to support@viralcodeapp.com.
Thanks for trusting us with your work.
